POWERED UP!!!!

It is always a pleasure to visit St'Mary's.... but yesterday those kids was full of energy. At one point more than i bargained for. lol. The day went by fast and for the most part I really had a good time. I feel all of my peers did a great job with their games, if anyone was nervous you sure didnt notice it!  Even with the pirate theme, @ least if not all from each group incorporated it in their games.I interacted with the older group a little more this time. Aside from a few distractons they listen well. You had one kid that used the word "stupid" and his peer was like" you know we don't use those words". She took the words rite outta my mouth. I played with three girls I think they were in the  third grade and all they wanted to do was play tag. but the interesting part was they were always chasing me. ( no fair) Towards the end my peers and I played jump rope with alot of the other kids and it came to my attention that my lab assistant does not know how to jump rope. ( sorry Holly) I thought that was funny. =) What topped the day off for me was at the very end when Yang was talking to us and his daughter coughed.
She is so little but what caught me was she covered her mouth the correct way. Awwww. Not saying she didn't know how but most kids that age just cough without covering their mouths. I must say when i reached my room the shower saw me first then my bed.

Is there anything wrong with kids (pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st graders) using large implement objects?

i feel that most kids are attracted to large implement objects, to them its like oh i wanna try. ex. kindergartners and first graders  see baseball as hitting the ball, where as kids n pre-k get easily distracted and would probably wanna play swords. Baseball is more age appropriate for first graders but i will give the kindergarten's a shot. I see it as give them a chance before you judge what they are capable of doing.I would hate for someone to deny me a chance at something because of my age. Overall with any large object you have to watch kids, no matter the age, primarily for safety reasons.

1st day of lab @ st. mary's

today was my first day @ St.Mary's with the kids being there. I had fun there, it reminded me of when i was working in a daycare. Today i realized how much i missed being around kids hands on. I played tag with these two kids named Sean and Danny, they wore me out a little but i kept on going. =) The thing that struck me the most was this girl named Stacey. She was playing basketball and for the most part she was good. She reminded me of myself when i was younger, she could shoot well except she's a lefty. I tried to teach her how to shoot with her right hand and dribble. But then i caught myself, I had to let her enjoy shooting instead of trying to be her coach. That's one thing about me, when i see someone playing i wanna improve their game. Guess that's the coach desire in me.But overall today was fun, now I'm tired!!!!

how is motor development an important aspect of everyday life for children?

Motor Development is an important aspect of everyday life for children because it involves change in their motor behavior brought about interaction among the requirements of the movement task, the biology of the individual, and the conditions of the learning environment. As a physical educator we have to help children make adaptive changes towards motor control and movement. As far as involving them in activities that are developmentally and age appropriate. For example I would have to start off with something simple working with a child that may b a little over weight or has had no physical movement in any activities. We have to make them feel comfortable and with doing that helps them gain our trust at the same time.

tour of St. Marys

last weds for lab we went to the school St. Mary's for a tour. for the most part it does seem rather challenging because this environment is very new to me. but if i had not had the experience of working in a daycare center, then this lab would be difficult. so i do have confidence in myself and i think I'll be OK.
